John M. Pellock, MD

John M. Pellock, MD, is chairman of the division of child neurology and vice chairman of the department of neurology at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where he is also director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Institute and professor of neurology, pediatrics, and pharmacy and pharmaceutics. He received his MD from St. Louis University, trained in pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia, and completed a fellowship in child neurology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. During that fellowship he began working with Dr. C.E. Pippinger to establish pharmacokinetic patterns of antiepileptic drugs in children and adults. His military service at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, allowed an interaction with Dr. J. Kiffin Penry, which continued over the years.

Dr. Pellock is a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics and of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Neurological Association, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Child Neurology Society, and the American Epilepsy Society. He has served as an officer of the CNS, and of the Child Neurology and Epilepsy sections of the AAN, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the American Epilepsy Society. Dr. Pellock is senior editor of Pediatric Epilepsy, Diagnosis and Therapy, 2nd Edition, and Neurologic Emergencies in Infancy and Childhood. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Child Neurology, Pediatric Neurology, the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and the Journal of Epileptic Disorders, and serves as reviewer of a number of journals including Epilepsia, Neurology, Pediatrics, the New England Journal of Medicine, Epilepsy Research, Annals of Neurology, Drug Safety and the Journal of Pediatrics. He has published extensively and lectured widely on pediatric epilepsy and has conducted clinical research in antiepileptic drug development, therapy, adverse events, and clinical epilepsy. He has served on multiple NIH study sections, site visit teams, and oversight committees (NIH and VA).

Andrew J. Pultz, Jr., PharmD is currently a Specialty Practice Pharmacist with the Ohio State University Medical Center, Department of Pharmacy. He has been a Clinical Specialist for Ohio State for over 20 years with a special emphasis on Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Pultz, Jr. graduated from Ohio State with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1981; a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1986; and a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2004.
